Heard a strong 1 kHz tone on WKBW, 1520 out of Buffalo tonight. Tuned up 1k and heard a station in Saudi Arabia. Apparently it is in Duba and runs 2 MegaWatts!  So I made some recordings. The first is with the RX tuned to 1520. You can clearly hear the 1k tone and even some of the audio from the Saudi station. The second is with the RX tuned to 1521. Lots of splash from WKBW, but you can hear the Arabic music.

I heard Croatian Radio (1134 kc from Zadar, Croatia) a few minutes ago on my 706-MKIIg and Horizontal loop, neither of which are optimal for BCB DX.  I believe they're running 600KW.

I've attached the mp3 file here.

Major splatter from the 50KW WBBR 1130 AM (Bloomberg) transmitter which is only 25 miles from me but you can hear a woman reading the news in Croatian in this recording.

During the day when I am working on stuff, I often listen to the NPR AM station on 1430 kHz in Nashville, about 50 miles away as the crow flies.  They run 10 kw daytime and reduced power at night, and their daytime signal is usually very good, while they usually start to fade about an hour before sunset.

To-day I was listening about 1 PM, and they were in and out and at times barely audible, because an interfering station in Indianapolis was coming in, at times taking them completely out, and at other times still audible in the background.  Indianapolis is about 250 airline miles from here.  The D layer must be unusually feeble right now.

75 was apparently long tonight.  Very little AM activity heard in the Ghetto, and the T-rash on 3892 was completely missing; they were apparently skipping over each other.  I called CQ down on 3685 and talked to a station in MD using his ricebox on AM for the first time,  with a pretty good AM signal.  Later QSY'ed to 160 and had a QSO with as station about 100 miles away.

Somebody told me that sunspots are beginning to reappear, so propagation might start to change soon, but probably not in time for anything noticeable the rest of this radio season.

Another clip of Croatian Radio (1134 kHz AM) recorded a few minutes ago thats even better than the one last night.

I'm curious, any of you guys with a direction loop antenna and a better receiver than my 706 hearing this better than I am ?
