A few pictures of Robert W0VMC (Voice Modulated Carrier!!) and his recent
visit to New England to deliver a Beautiful Collins 20V2 transmitter
to Carl WA1PQT.  I suspect Carl is going to be a "factor" once
he gets his antenna up a bit higher!

Carl, welcome to the AM community!  I think Carl will be a great asset to our group!

It was my great pleasure in finally meeting Robert W0CMC after speaking with him on the air for so long  Cheesy  I (and all of the New England hams) look forward to Robert's return to New England when we can plan a larger gathering.

Here are a few pics:

Pictured from left to right: Steve WA1QIX, Robert W0VMC, Carl WA1PQT.  The
new rig is in the background.

Here's Robert standing at the back of the transmitter.  The inside of this transmitter is cleaner my dishes  Wink  You could eat off of the transformers!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I've heard of tree huggers, but Transmitter huggers  Wink

What a work of art !!

I have more pics.  I will put them somewhere on the 'net for all to see!!

Regards,

Steve

Very cool, Steve, TNX for the pics.  I heard a rumor that Robert was gonna be at Nearfest... only a week out of phase.

He's one of those true gentlemen, and it's always a pleasure to hear his strapping signal and distinctive voice on 75.

I don't believe Robert was actually at NearFest.  I believe the timing didn't work out for the 'fest and delivery  Wink

What a nice rig. Question, What is the purpose of the shorting straps on the variable caps?

Those are lightning arc gaps--not shorting straps. If you look closely one end floats. Did you check out the DC motor & indicator drive?

I suppose you set the gap slightly closer than plate spacing.

I hope that transmitter is not the one Robert uses on the air, or if so, he has something better in store.  He always has a beautiful signal here.
