Ah yes, the prettiest amateur radio equipment ever made (at least according to the one vote of W2XR). The Heathkit Indian Series: the '57 Chevy Belair of ham radio gear, and about that vintage, too.

The Apache really looks beautiful. Treasure and enjoy that transmitter.

The RX-1 Mohawk, the HX-10 Marauder, the HA-10 Warrior, the SB-10, the HO-10, the AK-5, and the HM-11 look great as well. I have them all in station nos. 2 & 3. Would'nt get rid of them for the world.

Been doin' it (smoke free) in O-hi-O for a few years now. Always semened strange when visiting in Pa and in a restaurant that they would ax "smokin or not?"

PS - I quit about 4 years back.... seems like yesterday, the urge never goes away.

I'll tell ya Ed to be Honest, I think it's the quitters that's behind this, nothing green...they're miserable and rather than put up with it they figure on making everybody else miserable, Hyper sensitivity an all..

Alot of Non smokers that never smoked could care less...at least alot I've discussed this with, the ones who are interested in Non-Gov admittance into personal freedom.

I guess I just don't like some one telling me what to do. (for the record, I smoked for years and quit )  Everyone should know that smoking is not healthy, and should chose to not smoke (you'd think) but freedom means that you should have the ability to make BAD choices, and of course, the responsibility for those choises is yours alone!

Smoke or not
Seatbelt of not
Helmet or not... your choice.  If your choice results in you being injured, killed, maimed or whatever, it was YOUR choice to perform that action and the consequenses are your responsiblity.

but there I go, using the R word again...  everyones a victim, know one is really responsible for what they do anymore...

And that certain someone was Robert H. Bork, a most distinguished jurist.

The trend is true in society, especially so in ham radio.
When the suits and ties went away at hamfests, well, it was all downhill from there.
In fact, that is why they stopped making boat anchors, and companies like Heathkit, National, and Hallicrafters went out of business.
No more guys in suits and ties, with horn rimmed eyeglasses, to buy them.

Now you know the rest of the story, good day. Wink

The good old days? Maybe. Where did people find the time to keep a suit clean? Not to mention the other suit. Maybe their wife dealt with it as part of running the household.
