If I'm not mistaken, Major Armstrong and his wife Marion, were both buried in Merrimac, Mass.

Perhaps those who have visited his gravesite can confirm this, or correct me.

Correct.  Findagrave.com indicates he's buried in Locust Hill Cemetery, Merrimac.
The picture they posted there makes his final resting place look quite attractive with the cherry trees in full blossom.

Speaking of pioneers, I'm reminded of my time spent in the Albany NY capital region.  Those so inclined can go visit Ernst Alexandersson who was laid to rest in Schenectady.  It's hard to believe that this man who actually KNEW Marconi, Fessenden, and Steinmetz was still active as late as 1973.  GE let him keep an office at the plant well past his retirement. He received his last patent at age 94 and lived with his wife for over 50 years in the same house in Schenectady.  Interestingly, Alexanderson and Charles Steinmetz are both buried there in the same cemetery.

73, Jim

Yep, as a few of the guys said, the Armstrong grave site is in Merrimac, MA. That picture was taken about a month ago on our way back from the Westford, MA antique radio meet (Radio XXXIX). Bruce, Tim & I made a day trip of it.

Guess you have to pay separately for perpetual care in that graveyard. Is that standard practice in Mass.?  wonder if they mow around only selected graves there?  Grin

Yeah, good ol' checkered modulation...  another section 4 quiz question.

Luckily, they weren't buried in Guanajuato, Mexico.  If the family doesn't pay the grave maintenance fee there, this is what might happen to your earthly remains...
