He was a genesis.
In fact I have Tesla's "Death Ray Machine" hidden here.
I can let you borrow it on weekends. Grin

By the way, whatever happened to Jack, of Tesla fame?
I can't recall his callsign, but he was/is the teacher from Michigan?

Oh Bruce, I won't deny the guy was smart.
BUT.. re-doing his experiments to such a scale doesn't seem to be worth anything more than the 99% of idol chit-chat we hams do.

Fun but to what end ?

(p.s.  I think I just answered my own question Grin)

Yep, just a different form of "distraction" Budley.

Some find it in radios, some in cars, some in the bottle.
And for some, it is the climb up the mountain that is enjoyable, the view from the summit is secondary.  Wink

Now, what ever happened to Jack of Tesla fame?
I seem to recall his class offered a bust of Tesla to the Smithsonian.

Oh, found him here -> http://www.ntesla.org/index.php

But really, although it seems to be the most admired, the Tesla coil is the least of his accomplishments. It's a neat light show but largely useless.

You could say the same thing about plinking bottles with a .22 or setting off fire works. Fun stuff.
Heck my Dad used to shoot at spark plugs when he was a kid to make it interesting. He thought the tommy gun was quite fun to shoot.

Blasting stuff, making big sparks, strappin slopbuckets is what we is all about.

Yep, you are right!

A/C power, changed the world. (and as an added benefit frustrated Edison!)

Next time you are in Niagara Falls, CA, be sure to visit the Tesla monument -> http://www.teslasociety.com/victoria.htm

Did u notice the  - Tower -  at the back of the house? Could it be he's into ham??

This looks like just the thing to use in tower restricted subdivisions... " No, show me were its written we can't have a light in the backyard?  Its a night light. "

Don, I'd use more than one relay to key this thing.

Gary could use it to keep criminals out of his back yard.

Bust the outer envelope of a mercury vapor strett lamp. The worlds greatest bug zapper.

Why did the Testla org have the pigeon on Nickies shoulder? He (not the bird) didn't invent the parrot mic.

It is considered good scientific practice to repeat experiments. See Richard Feynman's lecture on Cargo Cult Science.

Budley, you can use it to burn up lots of things.

Tesla had a pet pigeon that he had nursed back to health from some injury. He cared deeply for it, and was know to take days to attend to it if he thought it was ill.

he was a genius, but had eccentricities (to say the least).

Ah, I think there might have been another reason.  Grin

Where does he put the ham, on top of the tower and cook it with the big sparker?

I was into ham this afternoon, and some cheese, and lettuce...... Grin
