This post doesn't concern AM operation, but it will give you a reference that you all might find of interest. The reference is to an article that appeared in the Jan 2007 of QST, concerning the aid the FCC performed during WW2. It won the Cover Plaque award for that month's best article.

However, I do want to again thank those who responded to my earlier post for the cordial and warm greeting I received from you. I'd especially like to thank Warren, W1GUD and Tim, WA1HLR for their responses, because they are two of the four I QSOed back in the late sixties. I would also be nice if Bill, W3DUQ, and Bacon, (the other two I QSOed then) would also respond.

Bill's a member here but doesn't post a lot.  He's on just about every afternoon on 3733 from 5 to 6 or so.   I'll let him know you're on the lookout for him Walt.

As for Bacon, he's a member here also but I haven't seen him around for a while.  He's QRT due to his apartment or townhouse antenna situation.
