Let's demonstrate to the greater amateur community that AM is still legal outside the IARU band plan segments.

I suggest that we make it a point to generate a massive showing of AM activity on the usual AM frequencies and anywhere else there might be a clear spot on 160, and on 75, Generals would make it a point to operate on 3800-3875, and advanced/extras on 3625-3780 (avoiding the DX window unless we are actually working transcontinental DX).

This would start the evening of 31 Dec/01 Jan at midnight local time, and run through the rest of the week and the weekend of January 4-5-6.

Just make sure the frequency is clear before transmitting (dead-air groups who claim squatters' rights to certain frequencies don't count unless they are actually using the frequency).

Besides proving a point regarding the IARU band plan, this would get a little of the AM activity on 75 out of the Ghetto.

What do you think?

I'll be there Don. (AS I was last year wheen the changes went into effect).
In fact, I think you were my first QSO below 3700 !!!

Maybe I'll resurrect W8B for the occasion.

I'm Game Don,

I'll try to have the Viking II ready in time for it.

Let's demonstrate to the greater amateur community that AM is still legal outside the IARU band plan segments.

That would give the impression that AM is not legal in certain portions of the phone bands, which would validate the IARU bandplan, and have the opposite of the intended effect.
