Hi Folks,
Just to introduce myself as a new member of the group.  Name here is , John, call sign is G6RAV and QTH is Warwick in the United Kingdom.  Warwick has an interesting castle and is few miles from Stratford on Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
I am a member of a group in UK, the Vintage & Military Amateur Radio Society, dedicated to preserving our radio communications heritage including the use of AM and CW.  I operate AM currently using a TCS transmitter and receiver but am also interested in using modern technology as well as vintage equipment.
I look forward to being able to contribute to the group.

Hello John,

I visited your area in 1991. I was working a temporary assignment at Rolls Royce and associates in Darby. In my free time I drove my rental car to every castle I could find. Warwick Castle is a beautiful estate and Stratford on Avon is awesome. This job required three round trips to and from the UK. The first Gulf War was on at the time and the commercial flights, empty. One memorable weekend was spent in Nottingham. Lunch at Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem pub at the base of the castle mount and off to watch Paul Gascoigne (Gazz) with the Tottenham Hotspurs play.

Welcome to AM Fone. Hope to work you soon.

Hello,

I look forward to the sunspot uptick when I can again have the pleasure of working the UK, and possibly yourself, up on 10 meters.

I spent hours back in 2002 talking with Dave, G3UUR in Norwich. Do you know him?

CW is just a narrower version of AM

Hi John,

Welcome. We have a variety of folks who have interest in all facets of AM operation  from high power to flea power and commercial gear to military gear, construction projects to resoration projects, rulemaking, technology from valves to the latest DSP and low fi and hi-fi audio. We might also discuss the best antenna or foods to eat when operating AM.

Iv'e been to Stratford and stayed at the Falcon, right across from the ruins of William Shakespeare's house. Home of the telletubbies?

Hi John,

A warm welcome from a friend from across the pond"!

Look forward to hearing you on the air, transatlantic AM some evening perhaps?

Almost time for the 86th Anniversary of the December 12, 1921 transatlantic listening tests.

Hi John!

You are evenso a big AM-lover, nice to read....
Mostly I (pe1mph) am qrv on 3705 our Dutch AM freq.
Early mornings (weekends) we are often qrv there in AM.
Just I spoke with GW8TBG, maybe you know him?

Other earlymorning stations on 3705 can be: F6AQK, F6DIZ, 9H1ES, PA1SBV and more ........
The stations in the USA know we are on 3705 and listen.
If conditions are good, we make a direct qso on 3705.

Hi John, welcome to where the rest of us "blokes" opine about one of our favorite radio modes. I too was over that way in '82 and again in '84. Maybe I have now I have a conduit to find goodies for my MK-214D and ET-4336 transmitters Smiley

Welcome John.

I am curious about AM operation in the UK.  What bands have AM activity over there?  I have worked AMers from the UK on 10m (29.0 MHz) during the sunspot cycle peak but don't recall whether I had ever discussed with those stations which other HF frequencies had AM activity.

73 and hope to see you participate on the AM Forum.
