There's been a small group on 3710 since at least 6:30 PM ET. The band is in excellent condition and the frequency is quite clear. Where is everyone? /

I've been listening off and on, on the "upstairs radio". Heard KW1I, W2INR, Huz, and some other station which was LOUD but couldn't catch his call.    Great signals all, even with a 30' antenna draped around the kitchen!   Was a bit too tahr'd  to join in.

So I said "what the hey..." and joined Steve and Don on 3705.  Eventually a couple of 5-landers joined us.  I was running my rice-box, so I was piss-weak (as usual), but it was fun anyway.

I monitored 3710  late in the afternoon.  Most sigs in the group were readable, even though not so strapping as later in the evening.

Some kind of digital-sounding rubbish came on top of the 3710 group.  Don't know if it was intentional jamming or some sort of automated system, but try as they might, they did not interrupt the QSO.  I suspect it was some dead-air group trying to keep "their" frequency clear while they were not using it. Finally the jamming went away.

I fired up later and worked 3710 from about 0300 GMT till 0700.  My longest radio session since sometime last winter.  Steve's signal was especially good in here, near FM broadcast quality when I opened the receiver to 16 kHz bandwidth.

Indeed! FB conditions prevailed. Don was very strapping - full quieting on the SX-17 in the Broad Selectivity position. Looks like fall conditions are here. Smiley

Yup..... the inside speaker hears it all !!!

Nah Slab.... I let 7 deer walk this weekend. It's too early in the season to shoot a spike and we got enuf meat left from last year to wait on a nice 2 1/2 year old doe for those nice n' tender chops and tenderloins !!!

Listen beginning Nov. 4th. My pal Tom WB8ZWY and I will be at the cabin the whole week. I'm trying to borrow one of those 500 solid state amps to use that week so I can run some decent AM power down there. Fudging with a generator and gas just don't get it !!

Have fun out in the woods. There's nothing like breathing the fresh air and enjoying nature, especially this time of year.

There are so many acorns at the beach place you can't walk around barefoot. Hoping the deer turn them into something softer and make the lawn green next year.

Anyone make any recordings?

People beyond the range might want to be tempted by hearing conditions like that ...

Last night was absolutely beautiful on 80. Small group that evolved and devolved to no more than 4-5 people at a time, and very quiet conditions. Signals hung in there great until I bugged out before 2200.

It provided a great opportunity to experiment a bit with the new (to me) NC-100X aviation receiver. Shove-Yank 6F6s making wonderful audio with great signals even on a minimal clip lead ant closed the green tuning up right up. Very surprising results for a 1930s rig. Even the high bands work well.

Listened on 160 a bit, it sounded equally quiet.
