It looks like I'm going to Battle Creek, Michigan on Monday to visit me mum. I'm taking the train up and driving back. My mum and step dad are going to give me a car so that's pretty cool. I need to get an Auto for Lucy anyway so it's perfect! I should be back in time for the Fester/Slab Party if I don't get lost! LOL I'll have to remember to pack my GPS just in case! I'm not looking forward to the 10 hour drive back but oh well..

I'm looking forward to the train ride that should be allot of fun since I'm an avid train geek, and since me mum is paying the fair that's even better! I could fly and get there sooner, but it won't be as much fun! Smiley Would be allot more fun if I could drive the train! (Yeah, I do know how to drive a locomotive!) But that's never gonna happen I'm sure. Sad

Playing card games with the old men in the club car
Penny a point and no one keepin' score
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels rumblin 'neath the floor

And the sons of pullman porters and the sons of engineers
Ride their fathers' magic carpets made of steel

I've heard the story about your fast train,
Now come and listen to one, all the southern folk have seen...

----
On a warm summers evenin on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin out the window at the darkness
til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

----
The longest train I ever saw
Went down that Georgia Line
The engine passed at six o'clock
The caboose went by at nine

----
There's black smoke a rising and it surely is a train
Surely is a train boys, surely is a train
There's black smoke a rising and it surely is a train
I'm on my long journey home

----
On the dixie cannonball, on the Dixie Cannonball,
Just listen to the whistle, it'll thrill you one and all,
And I know there's some one waitin', with the sweetest how you all,
Well shut my mouth, i'm a'headin' South, on the Dixie Cannonball.

---

And hundreds more...

Dammit Steve you beat me to it!
One of my favorite Kenny Rogers songs.

I had it all ready to paste and you'd beat me to it! LOL

On a warm summers evenin on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin out the window at the darkness
til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

He said, son, Ive made a life out of readin peoples faces,
And knowin what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
So if you dont mind my sayin, I can see youre out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey Ill give you some advice.

So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, if youre gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

Now evry gambler knows that the secret to survivin
Is knowin what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
cause evry hands a winner and evry hands a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.

So when hed finished speakin, he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count you r money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

He was goin down the grade
doin' 90 miles an hour
when his whistle broke into a scream

He was found in the wreck
with his hand on the throttle
Scalded to death by the steam....  Shocked

This thread could go on forever!

Here she comes - look at her roll
There she goes - eatin' that coal
Watch her fly - look at her sail
let her by, by, by - it's the Fireball Mail.

Let her go - look at her steam
Hear her blow - whistle and scream
Like a hound - waggin' his tail
Dallas bound, bound, bound - the Fireball Mail.

Engineer - makin' up time
Tracks are clear - look at her climb
See that freight - clearin' the rail
Bet she's late, late, late - the Fireball Mail.

Watch her swerve - look at her sway
Get that curve - out of the way
Watch her fly - look at her sail
Let her by, by, by - the Fireball Mail.

------
Train I ride, sixteen coaches long
Train I ride, sixteen coaches long
Well that long black train got my baby and gone

Train train, comin' 'round, 'round the bend
Train train, comin' 'round the bend
Well it took my baby, but it never will again (no, not again)

Train train, comin' down, down the line
Train train, comin' down the line
Well it's bringin' my baby, 'cause she's mine all, all mine
She's mine, all, all mine

Randy,
Have you ever been to Grand Canyon?  If you've never been and someday if you do decide to go, if I may recommend, you should take the Grand Canyon Railway ride into the canyon. They have a variety of trains to bring you into the canyon and it's an awesome trip.  2.5 hours by train of their choice on the day.  They have steam and diesel locos and a variety of passenger cars.  You pick up the ride in Williams, AZ and ride into the canyon.   It's cool.  I think you'd like the ride and you'd get to enjoy the GC, an awesome site to behold all by itself.
