On my way home from work this afternoon I was sitting at a traffic light waiting for it to change.  The intersection where I was waiting is rather large and it has rather large grass islands in it.  While I was sitting there I couldn't help but notice a rather large group of birds going nuts around this one tree.  As I got closer to them most of these birds turned out to be male and female Robins.  I counted at least 23 of them.  I've never seen them in groups like this before which surprised me but nonetheless I was even more surprised to see them at this time of year.  I guess they're confused.

Let's hope they have a good place to hide the next few days.

Summerlike QRN last night.  The first QRN I have heard for almost a month.

Tulips and daffodils are 3 inches out of the ground here.

The QRN last night was likely from the big storm in the midwest. I heard less static on my SE receive antenna than on the SW or NW.

Most years some robins come up north early. They group together at my Japanese crab apple trees to eat the dried up fruit. Normally they are bug eaters. This year I first saw them here in East Hartford about 3 weekends ago.

As far as the flowers go I normally have crocus blooming by the 3rd week of February on the south side of the house. The purple ones are earliest. There is always plenty of winter after this.

I noticed, yesterday, that the robins have returned to Rock Cave. They are about a month early this year. They are eating the swollen buds on my maple trees. Also noticed Spring=like QRN as Don did. Makes me think about Hamfesters!

The static on 160 last night was nothing compared to the idiot slop buckets who now trash the gray hair net each week.
They park 5 KHz away and transmitt 6 KHz audio. Ah the new CB band

And no doubt complain about the AM QRM.
