Found a pretty good series on Netflix last week called "Wish Me Luck".
It is a 3 season series from 1989 or so about British women in WWII serving as
spies in France. Great "wireless" shots and pretty cool shots of AR88's and HRO's!

Hi Steve,

Sounds like an interesting series.  I think the designation for the military HRO was the HRO-M.  I have one downstairs and it plays very well.

It is off topic but related, In the recent remake of "Tinker Taylor Solder Spy" they show several long, sweeping shots of MI6's signals intercept room. I counted 7 Racal RA17's in they're cabinets. I own a 17 without a cabinet. I can only wish. Hi Steve!

I have a HRO-M with all nine coil set.  They all have matching serial numbers along with the receiver.  I use the HRO as one of my main station receivers.

Sounds interesting Steve.   We have watched a couple of old "Hazel" episodes on our local "Antenna TV" channel that plays 50s-70s reruns.  These two episodes (perhaps there were others) had a very strong amateur radio theme and were actually quite fun to watch.  One episode involved a faulty heating pad interfering with George Baxter's (Hazel's boss) TV and of course, he blamed a kid down the street who was a ham.  He was later proven wrong and everyone lived happily ever after, including the ham kid who was presented with a world map clock by George Baxter, as a gesture of good will.

There were probably several shows back in those days with similar themes.  I even remember a "Leave it to Beaver" episode where Wally and Eddie had a pair of surplus walkie talikies that they talked to each other on and, I believe, one show that involved Beaver working on a crystal set.
