Is it just me or have a lot of sellers on there went totally nuts?! Some of the buyers make me wonder also.

Look at some of the prices on stuff. Got a single control knob from a pretty common tx or rx, and their starting bid is $29.00. I'm just trying to be general, here; I don't want to offend anyone so I'm not going to give specific examples of auctions (and that's not to say that I know or believe nay of the listings belong to anyone here, just to do the CYA thing). Not all the listings, mind you, but quite a few are just plain ridiculous in their pricing.

I figure a lot has to do with the "sellers" with no idea or clue of what they have, will go on and see a similar item that may be in better or even restored condition. Then, they'll try to get as much or even more out of the item they have, which is in really rough or questionable shape.

Just my two cents, or maybe I'm stepping out of line again.

Things seem to go in cycles: I bought some surplus field phones two or three years ago for about $50 each, and I just looked at Epay the other day, and they're now listing for several hundred each.

I'll bet that in a couple of years, they're back in the $50 range.

Bill,
You're right about that. And a lot of that type fluctuation seems to depend upon the time of year also. However, I think some of the really outrageous offerings come from the "non-ham" turn a buck type sellers who look for the categories that seems to generate the big bids. Nothing wrong with doing business, but it's sorta kinda good to know about the goods they are trying to peddle to others, especially if they're going to try to wring top dollar + 100% out of them.
I've got an interesting story to go along with the rant, but I have to get a little sleep for tonight's work festivities. Maybe tomorrow. You guys have a good evening and keep the filaments lit!

a lot of the people selling on ebay, buy at yard sales etc and have no idea of what the're selling is worth they put the price high hopeing someone will buy it.  Others feel that for some reason beceause it has past through their hands it becomes valuable.  When ebay has free postings if it doesnt sell, these people run a lot of adds

And usually the extremely outrageous prices are accompanied by some marking of the item as **RARE**. Usually its something that is the complete opposite of that.
Just for fun, here's the Radio Communication category on eBay when you search for "rare"

Guy, we have an eBay section for posting things for sale. Other eBay discussion is better left undone.  Thanks.
