I remember when my father found out
The hospice people had flowers to arrange
At the end, he came to peace with his life
And the fact that everything must change

I remember how he fought that bout
Full out and reckless, trying to win
At the end, I went to pieces with the sadness
We both always led with our chin

The undiscovered country, from whose bourn
No traveler returns, puzzles the will
At the end, I had only his teachings
And a hole that I could never fill

I imagine that I see him, still
In a storefront window, turning away
I want to pick up a phone and dial
But the only way to call is to pray

Derb knows he is going to lose
So must we all, in the end
I can't give him the time he needs
Just the comfort of a friend

That great uncharted land
Will now be open before him
He will learn the answer we all fear knowing
And maybe even fly, on a whim

73,

Bill, W1AC

Bill,

That was very touching and well-placed.

Gloria, thank you for telling us the sad story about Tim. I'm so sorry to learn of his fate. I am not well myself, am in no imminent danger, but I've been hoping to be able some day to travel to the NE to meet many of the AM guys I correspond with on this board, especially to meet Tim. It's a real disappointment for me to not have the pleasure of meeting him. So for you Tim, I wish you a painless peace for what time you have left. Goodbye, OM!

Hello Gloria and Tim, I only got to speak to you on one occasion on 75 meters. Tim, if your wife is going to read this to you or if you read it yourself, I wish I would have gotten to know you more. Your certainly one of the great guys that will remain in our memories forever.  We'll all get to see you again on the other side. I'm convinced that what we see here on this side, is not the end and that all will be better there. May your filaments forever glow!

Glo and Tim,

I wish you both strength and peace. You are both in my thoughts each day.

Glo,

Please let Derb know that my prayers for the best are with you both. The Derb was always the best in my book.
