OK....I realize that you guys who are musicians or into professional audio already knew this, but I just discovered a really great local source for parts and stuff.  Fort Wayne, IN is home to Sweetwater Sound.  Wow!  What an impressive place.  They have just about everything imaginable for the guitar enthusiast as well as a lot of stuff of interest to hams.  Lots of audio processing gear of all flavors and prices, lots of microphones and associated accessories, including cables, connectors, mounts, stands, etc, etc.  They even have bulk mike cable in lots of styles, along with all sorts of other goodies. This weekend, I needed a shock mount for a particular mike, which I was able to find there.  I was also very impressed with the huge array of audio stuff that they have.  They also have a huge catalog and catalog web site.

Another place that I also visited was Guitar Center.  I understand they have local outlets all over the country.  Even if you aren't a musician, which I am certainly not, you will find lots of goodies at these places.  I have absolutely no connection with them, however, with the demise of our last local parts emporium and the meager supplies available at Radio Shack, I was happy to discover another local source for parts and supplies.

Another is Musician's Friend.    They have rack cabinets, mixers and mikes also.

I'll definitely go along with a recommendation for Sweetwater Sound. They've been my audio supplier of choice, both personally and professionally, for around 30 years. Great company.

(Sweetwater Sound) Yes, they are very large and apparently have a unique ability to provide all sorts of consulting and engineering services in addition to selling all the hardware.  Quite an impressive facility that contains a retail store, and lots more.
