" ...and also that the ham radio equipment may be inspected without prior notice upon the receipt by the City of a complaint that the radio operation is causing interference with neighbors electronic devices due to the use of higher wattage than allowed by the FCC..."

Wow, that's really over-the-top! I wonder if they are aware of the Part 15 stickers that are fastened to the many appliances on our neighbors' electronic devices:

" (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation."

I'd love to see who they deem to be qualified to inspect the equipment many of us use. Gotta give 'em credit for their grand vision and delusions of power...

I wonder if the dolts know that by restricting outdoor antenna heights, and ultimately forcing hams to use hidden antennas, indoor antennas, or less effective antennas will actually increase the liklihood of interference to consumer electronics.

why is it every kind of foul thing and fascist abomination comes from the san francisco area or from Califonia in general. Who are the foolish and small-minded people in those places that think themselves so important as to dictate to free men what they should do? What is this palmdale that it is so precious that any sort of display of real technology detracts from it? Do wizards and seers live there, that they would not need ham radio for anything? Maybe the whole thing will have an eathquake some day and slide away from the rest of the country before the disease infects the rest of the nation. Or is that harsh?

You forgot about New York Grin

Not all of California is like that; it just started back in the late 1960's in SF. Many from the 60's generation are now running the show and are in CA state politics. Once you get use to their craziness its a great place to live, but you better get use to the hefty price tag. My back yard is the foothill of a mountain and the great weather and scenery rule. There is so much to do here that I could probably never live anywhere else ever again. Forget SF though, its a nice place to visit and see the GG bridge, but I could never live there. Those people are nuts and they live in a world all of their own and that’s sort of the problem. They think the rest of the country should be like that and there are some who actually believe it is. That’s the real problem.

Too harsh, probably not, just don't blame the whole state. Believe it or not I think the state is actually on the verge of swinging back Republican again. Arnold’s approval rating is not all that high right now, but all of the Democrats in the state legislator approval ratings are currently in the toilet. The next election is going to be very interesting, but lets not make this a political discussion.

no politics intended. Many of my friends from cities in CA that i know nothing about (and in the the northeast as well, especially NY, NJ, and the smaller sized states) complain of these same nutzo ideas. Cities gripe to them about their military trucks. It's all a matter of freedom -vs- control.

Excellent point. This would offer more ammunition to outlaw amateur radio all together. Interference, heath issues, not being green.... We have three strikes against us.   Cheesy

Steve,

I placed this label in the upper right hand corner of the rack for my 4-400 x 833's so it would be in compliance with the "green" factor. So far so good! I would suggest everyone do the same!
