Joe N3IBX, Terry N3GTE from PA area, Bill K1BF from Maine and Ron K1VYU met at the
WA1KPD QTH today. It was a mini fest with much bartering and trading going on.
Picture below was taken at a local watering hole where we finally got around to lunch at 3:00!

L to R. Carl WA1KPD, Bill K1BF, Ron K1VYU, Joe N3IBX and Terry N3GTE

2nd picture shows all admiring one of the goodies. The 4 legged guy in the white fur coat was aggressively out bidding Joe on the item

Thanks for posting Carl.
Good to see the "radio gangster" crew is out and about!

Seems only a short time ago NE1S and I were sitting in that same place.

Carl,
I had a terrific time and it was great getting together with everyone! We definitely have to do it again in the not too distant future.

BTW, the ride home was met with about as many accidents in Connecticut as the ride up. I guess it was just one of those days when everyone was out and about.

You and Ron live is a serenly beautiful area, and it was great taking in some of the local sights. I thought the town of Chester, Connecticut was about as nice as it gets. A typical quaint small New England village with a great local hostelry!

BTW, the kewl 1923'ish HB regen is about to sing for it's supper. I'll let you know how I make out with it. It's the first one of the pack I brought home that I want to try out.

Is there any chance you ever heard anything on 160M with it? I noticed the tapped coil, and was wondering if I added a tap at either end, if it would bring me up that high in frequency? When the thing was originally built (1922-23) there were only a couple of authorized frequencies for broadcasting around 360 Meters. The original station log definitely showed it was healthy DX hound, and added to it's appeal for me. Many many thanks again!

Very Best Regards, and it was great getting together with you,Bill,Ron and Terry.A great time was had by all at "Chez du Nord"!

Derb,
I appreciate the compliment. I'm usually told I have a face only a wife could love on payday. That is a compliment, isn't it?

Looks like a FB gathering indeed. And it wasn't raining on you, amazing. Who ended up hauling away the most?

Does this mean your receiver made the trip to you with K1BF, Joe? If so, I'll be interested to hear of your findings.  Wink

Todd,
Many thanks to Bill, K1BF for getting your old 75A2-A to me safe and sound. I'm VERY pleased with it! As to your second to last query, I won't answer that Roll Eyes
Bill, K1BF was kind enough to stop in Worcester, Mass to pickup a very seldom seen RCA C-11-1 shutter dial allwave console radio for someone in our crew.

Very Best Regards,

I saw that same ad for freebies in Worcestor, Joe. If not for the move, I'd have been there with a truck!

Glad to hear that you have the receiver, and that you all had a nice little radio gathering at Radio 'KPD in CT. Fewer distractions than a hamfest.  Grin

Frank,
I wish I would have known. We could all have met up or at least I could have stopped over to (finally) meet you!

Next time I'll let you know.

Indeed it was the same

Looks like I might, might make it on the 6th!

1KPD,
No can do the weekend of the 6th OM, now have a biz seminar thing scheduled, and will in fact be missing the Windsor hamfest.
It is a sad thing indeed when capitalism comes before radio.  Wink

HOWEVER, I can do any other weekend you might choose, so perhaps a fall foliage trip may be in order?
I'm now stocked up on Ommegang Abby Ale, two cases were left on my doorstep last week.
Nothing like friends, beer and old radios.
The Fall Maine Hamshack Tour?

Your friendly travel agent standing by...

Good to see the Vortex, looking well there OM!
Hope to catch u on 160 when the band quiets down.

I bet you were less then 1/2 an hour away and I have 2 jars of pickled egg plane just waiting to someone to share them with. I goofed off most of Saturday cleaning the basement and made a home depot run....and restocked the ice cream stash.

1KPD,
No can do the weekend of the 6th OM,

Well it was a radio weekend. Sat was spent with the AM Gangstas and had good tickets to the Sox on Sunday with 1VYU. We decided to make a day of it and leave early so we could hit the flea at MIT. MIT was good. wx was FB but the Sox shamed us.

By the time we got home it was about 10:30 and it had been a long day. Luckily had planned to take the day off anyway. Been pretty wiped. Can't party like its 1972 anymore.

End result was I decided that I am radio tripped out until Nearfest so it works out

Posted a late notice on the BB Sat AM Frank.

All electronic items have to be bolted down when Joe's around. For some strange reason these types of things get into some sort of process unknown to us and find themselves in the VORTEX and magically appear in Joe's basement................hi
How are those sagging shelves?Huh?
