JN spotted a Gonset GSB-201B on ebay for $150 buy it now missing the tubes.

Quote
Gonset Hf Amplifier 4 x 811 tubes for parts or repair. I owned this amp years agao and it worked great with over 800 watts out on all bands and over a Kw on 80. I sold it to a friend who months later had trouble with it. He said the tubes self oscilated and he never fixed it. It does not have any tubes in it now. It does have both plate and filiment voltage and i belive it can be fixed easily enough by someone who knows what he is doing (that is not me for sure). It would be great to fix or to use for parts to repair another amp or for a homebrew.

we broke as hell but thats what credit cardz is for. So I got the second MAUL for Yeasu #2. No need to run like hell around teh hamfests looking for one and I get it delivered to my house to boot. I bet teh bandswitch is fried, but we got 2 new wafers ready to go.

Tanks JN.  Cool

Did you get some pics from that auction?

nope, bought it sight unseen. I figured if it looked bad I'd just re finish it or have it powder coated.

for 213 bucks shipped as long as it has no actual metal damage it will be ok. I got shipping insurance on it also.

I couldn't see me scoring one for cheaper at some fester later this year, even minus tubes. This way it comes to me and I dont have to worry about moving it from some field or inside table. I just hope UPS ground doesnt destroy it.

seller has 99.9% positive feedback, so i tend to believe his story about it.  I asked him what it was because I didn't want a GSB 101, and he said it was a GSB 201B, so it's either a Mark 2 or 3, so it's good to go with transceivers as it is.
