Looks like we're not the only ones dissatisfied with RS these days.
Quoting from article by Megan Johnston in April 23, '07 issue.

"White Knight Not"

"Ailing electronics retailer RadioShack imported turnarund artist Julian Day Last July. The savior of problem companies like Safeway, Sears, and Kmart, Day has continued a cost-cutting regimen at RS (27, RSH.)
Wall Street is cheering. The stock has doubled since his arrival."
"But Jefferies and Co. analyst Timothy Allen sayhs Day's efforts won't be enough to stave off competition from big-layout electronics retailers like Best Buy. RadioShack's wireless business, which accounts for a third of sales, is also under fire as cellular providers continue to take control of their own distribution. In 2006 the chain's sales fell 6% to $4.8 billiion and same-store sales dropped 5.6%.  Net income dropped 73% to $73.4 million. The stock has a 50 price/earnings multiple, versus 23 for competitors. Short it. "

- Whew, that's pretty strong advice. Guess the small parts ain't comin' back anytime soon.  Quite a fall from an outfit that sold IF xformers and lifetime, made in Italy tubes not too long ago.

Gone are the days of the electronic parts places that sold us condensors and resistors and those other goodies for projects. Now you have to go "on line" and search through pages to find something from Digi-Key or Mouser, etc.

I wonder how long the RS bean counters will be able to hang out at Fort Worth HQ in that fancy building when there is no cash coming in to count.
