My long-time friend George Flanagan, W2KRM, had become an SK in May of this year. He was 88 years old.
I am helping George's son liquidate the radio and electronics equipment and parts that George had collected over the years.
I have attached a few photos of some of this equipment, etc.
The Johnson Valiant is in original and pristine condition. It's the nicest one I have ever seen.
The two Hammarlund SP-600s, which were modified by ITT/Mackay Radio, are in good to fair condition. I believe one of the two SP-600s is in operational status, as I recall George restoring it many years ago, but I cannot verify this.
The Hallicrafters SX-24 receiver is also in pristine condition. If I recall correctly, this may have been George's first good communications receiver he had received when he was in his teens, when he first received his license.
The operating condition of all of this other equipment is unknown.
There is also a large assortment of vintage parts, most of which I believe came from ITT-Mackay/WSL East Hampton and Brentwood, NY when they went dark in 1986. This includes lots of plug-in coils, coil stock, Sangamo high voltage transmitting capacitors, etc. There are also many vintage books and paper ephemera from the earlier days of radio and electronics.
I am not selling any of this equipment for his son; I'm only connecting potential purchasers to it, and providing guidance to him as to what I believe a fair price would be for it. Any transactions would be handled between the buyer and George's son, and any fair and reasonable offers would be accepted.
It is located in Smithtown, LI, NY. Sorry, no shipping for any of these items; local pick-up only.
Please let me know if you have any interest in any of this gear, and I can send additional photos of it.
Thanks & 73,
Bruce, W2XR
