Cheaper, too.

Why not build one? There are literally hundreds if not thousands of diagrams online, in old handbooks, magazines, etc. Parts are easy to find, even the old big pin tubes are readily available. You could use existing coils or wind your own.

They do work amazingly well for the few parts they use. I've been playing with some little single tube BCB sets from the early 20s, it's a lot of fun.

That one is very nice! Hinged top and rosin stain on the schematic. Great positioning of the components. I like it.
