There is a place called Harp Mic Shop that sells Ceramic Replacement Mike
Elements. They tell me that they will work fine in the D-104.

Has anyone used one of them ?? I would be interested in the results.

I just removed one from mine. They will likely work, but will not sound as good.

If I found the same place you are talking about, those are original Astatic elements, just for different microphones (the D-104 used a MC-320), so the crystal in them might be the same or similar to the D-104.

Philliop, that one you had was a modern replacement, completely different than this element that Dick is talking about

He may have been referring to the Kobitone elements. The one
I bought didn't sound that great either.

Guess I'll try one of the Harpo Specials ... I just hate being a
pioneer ... you know what happens to pioneers ... they get to
sleep on rocks and get shot full of arrows !!

I'll report back on my findings.

Please name the specific item/model number.  It's impossible to make any intelligent comment base on your vague identification!  Thanks, bill.

p.s.  Dittoes for KA4KOE.

p.p.s.  In the spirit of previous posts, let me recommend whatchamacallit brand mic elements mounted on a popsicle stick with Elmers Glue-all.  They make me sound like Enrico Caruso!  Smiley  Cheers!
