It's alive. IT'S ALIVE!!!

I've owned a MEL VRC-321 and currently own a Clansman/Plessey UK/RT320 (otherwise known as a PRC-320 in the US). These surplus British radios operate USB, CW, and AM. They are easily modified for LSB by insertion of an oscillator module.

The '320 only outputs about 7 watts double sideband full carrier AM on a good day, but uses VOGAD to increase average talk power. I've had a lot of fun on 3885 KHz lately running AM with a dedicated WD1T wire inverted L in my backyard (the radio is on my porch).

I felt the need lately to dust/wash off the 320 and try it on AM with moderate success and loads of fun.

Welcome to the world of QRP AM, Philip.

And welcome to the world of hamsexy when you wear that rig to the next hamfest. No amount of HTs clipped to some guys belt can even come close. You'll get a door prize. Grin

Unfortunately, the straps on the pack frame are almost too short to go around my non-petite frame.

Loved the ad humor.
Oh, uh, your missing the eighty seven link grounding chain, VRC-cg87 with anti-barbwire grabbing tip.
Ties to lower frame.
