We go out to Thomas Point Lighthouse at the start of every boat season to reminisce and bring good karma all summer out there. Yesterday /Saturday, the tradition continued.

Hard to believe it's been 11 years since the first K3L AM Expedition to TPL, and 7 years since the reprise.  If you haven't read these stories / pictures in a while, they still give a good idea of why it was so special to those of us who went out.

First time:

Second time:

Good memories, good times as we start our 20th season on the water.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for taking some current pictures of TPL.

That's fantastic that Pam and you visit it at the start of each passing years boating season.

What a fantastic event and little did we know that we would not have many more chances for a repeat session.  You know my fondness for lighthouses, so to combine a Ham Radio AM event on a remote lighthouse was something I will never forget.

Thanks for posting and stirring up the great memories!

Yea for all summer season stuff.  Wish I could go with you both, at the same time!
Um hmm, that would be interesting.  Looks like quite a logistics success getting all that gear and radios on the 'rock.'

And then there's the neat Dobbins Island stuff that sounds like fun too.  I have one of your QSL cards from that.

RICK you must have activated my web cam or something, right ?

Sunday I went to Dobbins Island !!!

It's not the same after about 20 years.  Someone is building a house on  it.  There's a dock for the construction barge, and they've carved a gravel access road from the water's edge up to where the foundation is going.

Sigh, nice view they shall have, that's for sure.  But they had better shore up the front yard.

The story:

Too bad; development seems to ruin the magic potential of a place, but the new residents will be able to enjoy it, that is if half the boats on the bay don't bother them.

Looks like quite a party out there.
