Just recently purchased a viking mobile w/o powers supply/dynamotor. Is there a replacement or compatable
unit ?

Thanks,    Mark  NJ2MR

What are your voltage requirements on that rig?

I will be following this thread with interest as I also have this unit.  What is interesting is that the crystals and the meter are reversed from my unit and from the manual.

I clipped this out of the manual or advertisement concerning the power supply.

And looking further in the ad, page six put the crystals on the other side.  Since this was a kit and since the chassis holes look the same, I guess it was a builder's option.

The mobile uses quite a pile of voltages usually provided by a group of resistances on the HV line. Most of the 100 watt level supplies of that era are adaptable. You can use  an Elmav M-1070/1071 , an old Harvey Wells , a home brew or even an Elmac PS2V like the one I had listed in the For Sale section . Home brew is a very viable option. Let me know if you need iron as I have a pile of old Ranger transformers and chokes that could easily make a good supply.

I think that there may be a few old Carter dynamotors up in the shed (NOS that is)...maybe  Huh Will look next time I pick up a load in the ongoing "clean it out" effort. Wink

Take a look at the DM 35 from the BC603/604 military sets. Its a 12volt dyno that puts out 600 volts.

Wouldn't it be easier to just start with an Elmac or similar supply and use it as is ?
