I know, they're not working AM, so forgive me please... Smiley

I've been trying up and down around all their published freqs and haven't heard a trace of them. Just wondering if anybody has had any better luck.

Nope, haven't heard them yet.  Hope you snag them.

Your question reminded me of some years back - it seemed everyone in the DX window was axing that question for weeks on end. "Have you heard Sable Island yet??!!"  It was on everyone's lips.

This time when someone axes, I'd just love to reply: "Yes!!! They're up on 3885 AM RIGHT NOW working the AMers!"   Grin Grin   (As the mode switches click and the sound of 100 VFO's go swishing up the band)

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

The mental picture (with sound effects) of clicking mode switches and swishing VFOs is practically Oscar-winning material. An AM-only DXpedition would sure be nice. But given the slopbucket proclivities of the five major transceiver manufacturers who sponsor the DXpeditions, it's mighty unlikely. But fun to think about.

Thanks for the good wishes.

No, I didn't work it. That was during my period of ham inactivity. Sure looks like a lot of fun. I love the old Gates Dynamote and the Gates cart. Reminds me of my early days in broadcash radio.

Saw this posted on one of the DX site under Sable Island. But I see plenty of spots for CY0 today, including a couple on 40 meters.

The Sable Island expedition has had a big presence on 17m CW-
they have usually been transmitting on 18073, and listening up 2 kc.
I've always heard them between 1600-1730z on Mar.7-9.

Don't really get into trying to break pileups, but was impressed with the signal
strength...they would sometimes peak S8, and be at the noise floor ten seconds later.
Good to have the sunspots back.
