I'm not sure why this wasn't discussed earlier, but I saw it announced in an ARRL newsletter.  AM QSO Party on 160 thru 20M. 2300Z Sat thru 2300Z Sunday.

This is a great AM event.  You do not have to be a member of the AWA to participate in the event.  You will likely hear some very vintage transmitters going back to the 30's.  The announcement doesn't mention operation on 160 but if you click on the rules you will see the 160 as one of the bands listed.

I agree / great event.

And Joe, as someone mentioned Sunday when you were anchoring the AWA AM gathering, there are plans to again put the James Millen transmitter on the air.

Their website has had a recording I made when founding curator, the late Bruce Kelley, was at the microphone. Precious material now.

Hope to work you again.  As I told you Sunday, you did a very fine job anchoring the group, especially with what felt like a potential record number of check-ins, and about two hours of air time on 3733Kc.

Hi Paul,

Again thanks for the nice comments about the AWA net this past Sunday.  We had 33 AM check-in's and it was great to hear the diversity of gear that folks were using.  Dave, KA2J is the normal NCS but due to a family gathering I offered to pick up NCS duties in his absence.

Yes, Bruce Kelly, Bill Fizette and others from the AWA were instrumental in talking to James Millen before he became an SK about the future life of his personal transmitter.  Our well know friend Bob Raide, W2ZM was the technical brains behind the operation to get the transmitter on the air and working in fine style.  The AWA would normally use it in the AM QSO party but this year it won't be on the air.  The reason is, AWA is building a new museum campus at a new location.  So things are somewhat in flux while the move is occurring but I am sure next year, the Millen rig will be on with all its glory!

This year there will be 2 flagship stations.  W2AN and W1HRX which is James Millen old call.  W1HRX will be manned by Jim Hanlon-W8KGI who is located out in Sandia Park, NM.  The duties at W2AN this year will be split between various AWA members at various locations.  I will be using the call, W2AN on 160M Saturday evening.  Jim Hanlon using W1HRX will be operating a National NTX-30 transmitter on 20-40 and 75 meters.

Speaking of the new Museum Campus, here is a link which gives an idea of what it will look like:

Hope to work a lot of you during the AWA AM QSO party!
