Stopped by Root's (pronounced locally as rutts) market near Manheim PA yesterday and saw some great displays of the fall harvest.

This pic was of my favorite stand.

Yes I took some of the jalapeños home.

We picked all our peppers Saturday and made a batch of peppers, onions, garlic and sausage. Just finished it last night.

Nope no moustache fires or engine burn, just good flavor done in olive oil and garlic.

Didn't dare try some of the others especially the tiny guys to the right of the Thai peppers.

Those babies would have definite 'ouch' factor on the exhaust side

I love Rutts market! The Silver Queen corn and home grown tomatoes just as ripe as could be. Add a few stuffed pork chops from the Mennonite family in the back and you have a meal fit for a king. That place rocks!

And just think, Dave - in a couple weeks you can enjoy seeing some of the local New England fruits and vegetables at NEAR-Fest.  Grin

A week ago I picked about 20 lbs of perfect tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers (hot and reg), and froze, dried, cooked, hauled them into work, etc. Then I left for a week, and it dropped to 25 deg F last week, so it was good timing. Just got home and that garden is crispy critters now, except for some greens. I love this time of year, the changes and colors. Yesterday took this photo as I was driving home from Lincoln County (remember Pat Garrett?).

My father-in-law went out and picked us 2 gallon freezer bags full of wild ramshead mushrooms. Boy did they go good with the steak last night!
