The R9000 is a good receiver and seems to work well for AM. The problem is that it is almost 20 years old and the display unit of this computerized receiver as well as the video generator that drives, it have problems at this stage.
The radio is not simple and it can be challenging to work on with no schematic. I just finished repairing one and posted the tips online, so I thought I would post the link here. Maybe they will save others some time.
