Are FETs supposed to glow like that?

o....my.......gaawd.....

(ok, so now I've changed my mind , and deleted my first comments on this...)

ok, I was bored.... I actually skimmed through 5 pages of ... well... I'm not sure what....

After getting to page 3, I almost registered to post on QRZ....

By page 5, I was ready to throw my radios out the door, and into a dumpster....

Then luckily, I woke up from the nightmare.... and closed the browser......

Sort of like being trapped in an alternate reality...

Gee Don, couldn't you have given some warning?

It's scary over there on 'the other side'...

I don't wish to go back!

 Grin lmao

I did the same thing. It's like a train wreck or something over there on the dark side, and you just can't look away.

After two ages I became totally bored.

That dude with the 10,300 posts needs to get a life.

Other than that, what did I miss?  Would someone please summarize?

Life is too short to invest any more on that one.

It starts to get good after about 15 posts, towards the bottom of page 1, with the guy who can't understand why he, as a general, can't legally transmit LSB with his ricebox displaying exactly 3.800.

It starts to get good after about 15 posts, towards the bottom of page 1, with the guy who can't understand why he, as a general, can't legally transmit LSB with his ricebox displaying exactly 3.800.

And after a page or so, when it seems he finally gets it explained to him...

ANOTHER guy comes in and doesn't understand it either!

He said something to the effect of  " Well, the ARRL band chart says I can operate at 1.8mhz, and at 3.8mhz...... I assume they would list the "center" frequencies.... though it doesn't really say....."

The first guy was under the impression, that as long as he "didn't cause interference,,,"  it was ok .......

Of course it's painfull enough to think that the General class operators involved, don't understand their priviledges, or the way a signal is transmitted....
But then there's all the self-important morons who, instead of actually trying to explain, just ramble on an on ... doing nothing but spurting nonsense.............

I won't lie Don,

I started reading it before you started this thread.  Painful is a good word for it. I can only take it in bits and pieces. It's like brainiac city!  From the "duh gee, what about the RTTY and SSTV windows?", to KD4IFB's stupid comments about operating right at 3800 with LSB as a General (making me wonder if he would even be worthy of the now defunct Novice license), it's made me cringe.  It's like the 3 Stooges run amuck.

This quote sums it up well!!
---------------------------

""everyone, LOOK at your band plan!!!

IT clearly states that you can operate LSB SSB all the way down to 1.800, if it was not so, then the ARRL would not desinate the begining 2.3khz as "SSB Phone"

So if you base your operating privilges off the ARRL bandplan, I sure can see how you CAN operate down to the bottom of the band.""
----------------------------------------

And this one sums up MY feelings pretty well...........

""I don't know who is dumber, those who can't comprehend SSB modulation and how it relates to bandwidth or me for actually having just found this thread and read it ALL.

I got a headache after the first six posts. Then I quit in a combination of boredom and disgust.

I found the thread somewhat scary.  If that individual(s) is a sample of the new ham population, then the ham population as whole has some issues that need to be dealt with.

I actually skimmed all the way through hoping for a punch line.

I had to stop because my nose started bleeding and my brain couldn't decide which one of my ears it most wanted to crawl out of.

In case anyone ever wondered why I don't log on to QRZ to even update my listing, that's why.

Those folks are internet dorks, they coincidentally happen to hold ham licenses.
Same for a few you might hear on channel 19 or freebanders that have ham licenses.

Real hams are those you hear operating lawfully and with respect for others on the ham bands.

So in other words there are no real hams that take part in the major contests then.  Grin

You deserve it !!! "
I thought oh goodie, here we go again and closed the browser tab. Typical Zed, since it's the 2M repeater of the internet I hardly go there anymore.
