E.F. Johnson Viking III
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: This is the newly rebuilt Viking III which is now installed in the upstairs station. It has three 6146B tubes in the final and is modulated by a pair of 811A's using a Thordarson CHT 300 transformer. A single variac controls a 750 volt power supply in the RF deck and a 1500 volt supply in the modulator deck allowing a continuous range of RF output from 1 watt to 150 watts. The low level audio is generated on one of the station computers and processed with software and a DBX-166A compressor/limiter. The receivers on this bench include a Yaesu FRG-7700 and an old NC-88.
