Anyone planning on operating the Classic Exchange this weekend?
Info at --> http://qsl.asti.com/CX/sept07announcement.html

Looks like the 30K-4 will finally be live on air, and I'm looking for those delightful cold night 160 meter evening contacts for its maiden voyage. Well, not really maiden, but perhaps the first voyage without fuse replacements every other time I key.  Grin
We'll see how long she last this time.

I'll be on the "drift net frequency" section of the band, a bit above 1885.

I might be on Bruce,

Family is coming to visit, so I'll probably miss the afternoon action on the high bands.  I may wimp out, and use my frequency counter to make sure I'm on the CX frequencies.  BTW, I hope 6 opens up, since my FT-620B (made in the late 70s) qualifies as a classic radio.  It also does AM.

I might get on 160M this weekend....depends on success of some antenna projects including installation of a couple of new runs of Heliax to the tower.  I will probably be on the old Federal 167B (pr 813s) on 160M.  The 30K-4 is presently on 75M and 40M.

Ellen...are you going to be on tomorrow on the net?  Perhaps,  we could have a QSO on 75M?  I'm anxious to hear that Globe Scout.

Ellen, well, it would be nice to meet you on the air.
We've had numerous exchanges here, but I have yet to contact you via the aether.
Perhaps a QRP 40 CW contact?

Jack, is it possible?
Could this be the long rumored and discussed 30K-4 to 30K-4 contact?  Grin
Kidding, see you are using the Federal on 160 right now.

We'll see if Bessie holds together enough to make the contact, I've been having issues with the exciter losing drive under extended key down. I seemed to have isolated it to low activity xtal. I'm using the internal oscillator, rather than an external 310 series unit.

Hope to catch you on 1890 KC OM.

Hi Jack, yes I'll be on the net tomorrow.  If you want a QSO before or after, I'd be happy to have one with you.  Last week, Rob was long to me (Marshall is about 65 miles west of me), so all I heard was bits and pieces of him.  I'm also available tonight.  I got the Griefkit VF-1 to finally behave itself last night.  I FINALLY got the dial tuning knob to engage the dialface decently.  I also had problem with noise from the VF-1.  I was getting about 3-4 S-units of noise from it, whenever I had it powered up.  Putting it on Standby did no good. A friend of mine who's worked on VF-1s told me that if one of both of the .005 mfd capacitors that go to ground from the voltage regulator tube go bad, the voltage regulator tube can go into oscillations. I replaced them with a couple of .0047 mfd caps I paid $1.35 for at Radio Shack.  It solved the problem - my noise went away.  So, my VFO is all set to go.  Just give me a freq.  At then present time, I'm (finally!) not rockbound.

Hi Bruce,

Sure, I'd be happy to do a QRP QSO with you on 40m.  Give me a time, day, and freq., and we'll see if it works for me schedulewise.  You can set the speed.

Anbody doing the CW edition of the CX tonight?  I tried some CQs on 7047 kc, and had no replies. W8TT was working CX on 7045, but was weak, and seemed to be ragchewing.  So, I went QRT for now.  I heard no CX on 15, 20, or 80m.
