Hi!

Here is something I would like to share with you, I hope that it makes you smile!

Yesterday I was working with one of my projects, a transmitter made by Standard Radio (SRT) back in the 80's. It comprise an exciter TD90 and a PA SSA440. For it's time it was ne plus ultra, actually it still is a very good piece of equipment, the exciter is well known for producing an exeptionally clean signal.
The system operates from 1.5-30 MHz, power output is 400 W.
PA is all bipolar transistors with 45 V supply voltage.

Anyway, I left the rig unattened for a minute, when I can back my youngest son Benjamin 3 years old, was sitting on the floor beeing very focused listening to the radio that I used together with the TX. I think that many of you can identify it as a R-392. I ran a way to get a camera, found a phone and took this picture. He was obviously in his own world, didn't take any notice of me at all. So I went a way to the room next door. Five minutes later Benjamin came in to me and explained that he wanted to use the microphone. I hooked up the TX to a dummy load and that made him happy for another 15 minutes.

Morgan,

That is a fantastic story!  None of my children developed an interest in Electrical Engineering or Amateur Radio.  Maybe I overloaded them with my take on the hobby!

Best to you and your family.

What a sweet story !

And it's great that you had the presence of mind, Morgan, to grab a camera for such a precious photo.

I absolutely love how your boy is about the same size as the R392, although it probably weighs more, right ?

He will look back on that shot in the time ahead ...

Have twin daughters and one always accompanies me at ham fest and the like. This is a picture of the two of us operating military radios on 51.0 at MRCA; they both also like guns and often go with me to the range. Have a step son also who was in the IT industry and now works for a university like I do. Started working with him on computers back in the nineties and looks like that worked out. Guess I have been lucky; enjoy your son while he is young because they grow up fast.

What a charming photo.  You need to frame that and hang it on the wall this weekend before it gets lost.  Smiley
