Black Widow ham gear? Huh

The stuff was pretty nicely built, mostly one-off items.

It seemed to have no builder of record---it just 'appeared' in collections.

Dates back to the early 1960's.

Any about in your stash?

Not the modern CW paddle stuff, BTW.

The Arrow info must have come out later, there were quite a few articles written in electronics/ham magazines about the 'mysterious' gear.

Then again, maybe it was a publicity ploy to boost interest & sales. Tongue

They made the Black Widow for 6,2 and I believe, 10 meters. I had one that needed a lot of work. It didn't make the move to TN 21 years ago. Wish I had stored it away better and might have gotten it going one day.

That name sounds like it would be for 11m.

I was in error when I said I had the manual for Black Widow 2 meter transmitter.

I really have the manual for an Arrow Sales Inc. 7035 Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood, CA, VHF 2 Meter BLACK WIDOW Transmitter-Receiver. Schematic shows date design of June 1955 and designed by J.E. Rogers. Transmitter has 6U8 oscillator, 5763 multiplier, driving a 2E26 plate modulated with a pair of 6AQ5's. Receiver has 6BQ7/6BZ7 RF front-end and three 6 MHz IF's. External power supply required.

Checking the CQ or QST ads around that time frame (1955/56, etc.) might turn up some ads.

What I saw in the mags was HF gear, looked like high-level AM around the 100-W class.  Black wrinkle.

Jeez, that is an old memory....
