Have you seen the new version of the FCC Web site,
http://www.fcc.gov ? It looks slick, but is totally useless to anyone who needs to look up a regulation or find a filing. The link to the AM, FM, and TV broadcast station databases is nowhere to be found. I cannot find copies of applications that were filed for new or modified broadcast stations. Nor can I find any links to license databases on the new version of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau page, which is the page that pertains to amateur radio, as well as various land mobile and public safety radio services. The links to the Web pages of the various bureaus and offices within the Commission are themselves hidden in a drop-down menu. In general, the navigation on this new site totally and absolutely sucks.
There are plenty of blogs, videos, and other fluff that might be OK for a site promoting a TV show. But they are useless on a site for a government agency, especially an agency whose site is used by those who are regulated by that agency and by the attorneys who represent them. We should probably nominate the FCC's new site to appear on "Web Pages That Suck",
http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com .
There is a link to the old FCC site on the homepage of the new one, but that will probably disappear soon. Your tax dollars at work!
