I'm sure its completely on the up-and-up. Unfortunately its local pickup only in Santa Barbara which leaves me out, what with the rising prce of gas and all.

You have to read the Q & A's. If you take this one seriously then I got a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you.

I guess you could say it was the ultimate Collins accessory since Rockwell built it after buying the radio op in Dallas.

Shuttle is used, with 148,221,675 freeway miles.
Fresh paint with minor scuffs and dings. Fully restored interior featuring six 80 watt stereo amplifiers and more than 61 speakers total. Looks like an audiophool. Smells like an audiophool. Must BE an audiophool! Living in an oxygen-free atmosphere.

A few years back I bought what was sold as the original Russian Sputnik, and all I got was a moldy Baskin-Robbins 5-gallon ice cream tub painted silver with coat hangers glued to it..... 73DG

The bid is up to $500,000.
I see the seller is trying to make all his profit off the shipping and handling, which happens to be $40 mil.
I would bid on it, but I don't have enough driveway space to park the thing. Although, if it didn't have wings I could park it in the street.

I wonder if the winning bidder will get the 'accessories' like the boosters and outboard fuel tank on an other auction or as part of a package deal?

Actually I heard that they are going to do a post mortem and inspect the pipes and wiring of the old bird and see how it aged. Then it likely goes to Air and Space. The French sent us a beautiful Concorde that is out in the annex at Dulles in Chantilly. Maybe we should ship them the Discovery. We already have Enterprise at Air and space on her wheels - who needs 2?
WASHINGTON DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - JUNE 12: Air France's oldest Concorde, F-BVFA, taxis past emergency vehicles June 12, 2003 at Washington Dulles International Airport. Air France is donating the supersonic jet to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum where it will be on permanent display at the new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. The center is expected to open to the public December 15, 2003.

Well it got up to $900,000. and it was removed. probably someone made a better offer via email to avoid the high eBay & PayPal fees.

Yep, of course the buyers don't pay the fees, unless the seller is smart and accounts for them in the sale price.
I'm sure someone finally convinced him it is a tad illegal to offer for sale something you do not own, even if it's a joke.
Something like that, especially, since it's kinda well known piece of gear.
The old bird will be off to the Smithsonian after they tear it down.
