Burt, I heard you yesterday on 10M from central PA.   I was listening while doing some computer maintenance.    I don't hear Cape Cod too much on 10M from here.

Why did you say hello (hi) in your comment?
1. Hi is a CW abbreviation
2. There is nothing funny there anyway

Funny you should say that Burt, I hear "hi hi" a lot on AM.  It's weird.  I'm someone who really advocates plain English for phone contacts.

Saying, "My name is John and I am located south of Lafayette" seems a heck of a lot better than saying "The handle here is John, and the QTH here is ...."  and when the operator talks in the third person, it's really kinda... creepy.

No, no! That's all wrong John. You're supposed to speak like this.

Handle here is John. HI
QTH here is Lafayette. Actually we1 are located south of Lafayette, LA. HI
We1 are running a ........ HI
We have a bad rash today... HI
Back to you, dah-dit-dah!

1 - Always use WE, even when in the room by yourself. Maybe you have a mouse in your pocket. Or maybe you are just anthropomorphizing your station equipment.

No no no, this is completely wrong and could lead to countless confusion.

One never uses abbreviations for the states when speaking in plain English.
Further, this station does not appear to be in Hawaii.

The correct syntax here would be the hyphenated "H-I,"  with equal and monotone emphasis on each letter, pronounced clearly aitch-oy for maximum intelligibility, as documented in the annotated code of HAM speak.

you are getting close to my future operating plans.  1 KW carrier with very low modulation.    monotone speech aitch eye, a tape loop running of crickets under my voice, which will sound distant due to my use of a telephone speakerphone for a mic.   I can't take credit for the idea alas.  I got it from the brilliant sound quality of talk show guests who phone in on speakerphones and sound like they are down in a well.

Heard on AM in a galaxy far, far away:

Hi everyone.  The handle hear is.... ahhhhh - where am I? - guess I'm too hi.

Just wanted to stop by and say hi to everyone. Put me in the rotation and and we'll see if I think of  anything to say. If any of my enemies check in, just sign me out to punish them with my absence.

By the way, I have seven military carbon mikes I'd like to check out. Do youse guys mind telling me which one sounds the best? First let me rap each one to loosen up the granules.

QRX for a few minutes while I throw a dead carrier and get ready here.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.
