I finally had a minute to sit down and scratch out an e-mail about the trip. First I want to thank John KC2FXE for the hardline and Bill KC2IFR for the acommodations.

It was a last minute decision to load up and head west...the weather guess'ers were making it a tough decission. First stop was a visit to Bears WB2GCR's and was cool looking at the fine built audio gear and a quick tour of the tech bench. Bear, I hope you find the time to finish the T-368. After leaving Bears about 3:30 p.m. I make a detour to John's in the Catskills. I found the house after a couple of trips around the park and of course John was still at work and no one was home. Hmmm, do I double back or load the hardline onto the trailer? After pondering my back condition and the cost of fuel (return trip) I decided to try and roll the rotted spool onto the trailer. I hope the neihbors weren't watching; it must have been comical as the spool was more like a square with two sides rotted away...clump! roll! clump! roll! Onto the trailer she went.

By the time I got into Henreita (sp) it was about 9:30 and I had been on the road for about 10 hours...phew! Next morning I checked out of the hotel and went to the fest. Man was it hot! about 90 deg F. I finally found W2ZE Mike and His Dad ZM. We chatted for a while and I was toast so headed for my air conditioned truck. It wasn't but 15 minutes and the urge to go got me...into drive and off to Glens Falls.

I rolled into Bills around 3:30 and was surprised to see Wayne WA1SSJ and Jim K1TKO. What a super station. A superb collection of gear...from the pristine 75-A4 to the homebrew 4-1000 rig. We hooped it up till I finally crapped out. Oh, Jamie wandered in later and made the nite complete. Up in the morning and a beautifull trip through the Green Mountains of Vermont and back to southern NH.

Thanks again John, Bill, Jamie, Mike, Bob and Bear and anyone I forgot for making the trip one to remember!

Great report, Brent - sounds like you had a good time. Was speaking with Bill the night you were there, he said you were crashed upstairs.

That 'SSJ guy is everywhere.....  Wink

Tina,

Sorry I didn't get up there to see you on Saturday.  I was hanging out with J and ZE on Friday, and just decided to stay home on Saturday.  Sounds like you had a very eventful time last weekend.  I got a chuckle picturing you "rolling" the hardline.

Catch you another time.
