Junkyard Dawg RF Deck
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Here's a look under the lid of the Junkyard Dawg.

The original plate tank design left a lot to be desired on 20 and 10, on 20 the mostly-shorted coil would get very hot, and on 10 the poorly-soldered bandswitch and coil tap opened up.

As a result, a third coil was added for use specifically on 20 meters, which is in the back left corner nestled atop the original coil.

You can also see that I should have trimmed the leads on the resistor for the parasitic supressor before I installed it, but it works.

If that plate tuning cap were a bit bigger, this thing might take a 4-400 and some higher voltage, but I'm certainly not unhappy with what I've got!
