Attached is a picture that was forwarded by a friend, small image and you have to squint but shows the SS United States and the Utopia of the Seas in the same frame. Although you may think it’s completely unrelated can think no better example of why I run vintage old military equipment and obsolete modes. Look at the lines of the United States, an Ocean greyhound, a class of ship that will never be produced again. Also look at the Utopia, looks like a freaking container ship, suspect its further off shore or something because I imagine it’s a larger ship. The length between the United States and its Tug is eighteen hundred feet for scale.
If you’re running an ART-13 or BC-610 on AM you know what I am talking about. Those little plastic radios may be incredibly easy to use, cost lest and weigh almost nothing but they will never have the same look and feel of a generation now past.

Making AM GREAT Again!

Living in the Caribbean, cruise ships are at least a weekly sighting.

JESUS  they are ugly.

Engineering marvels, but ugly.

edit to add picture of 2 ugly as sin cruise ships off the coast of the island I live on.  These are between St Croix and St Thomas, USVI.  You can BARELY make St Thomas out in the background.  If I can find another pic, clear, I'll add it.  Striking how much the Saharan dust clouds out skies here.

I floated a thread on a few military radio forums re the status of the radio room equipment.  Good news is that the stuff won?t be going down with the ship.  It reportedly was all stripped out many years ago when the ship initially went into mothballs in Newport News.  So far have not heard on where the stuff ended up though.
