I ran across this 42-page pdf tonight - "A Guide to Museums and Historic Sites in the United States" an extensive listing of World War II museums and other historic sites. There's probably one in your area you didn't know about or will be near your travels this summer.  The guide is copyright 2015, I spotted one facility that is now permanently closed.
