We might have been able to work each other John if the timing was wright. I worked stations in AL, GA, IL, PA and the Carolinas alll within a 90 minutes span from here near Tampa. I'm hopeful conditions will stay this way the most of the time for the two few months.

Maybe would could start a 29 MHz net with stations within a 1000 mile radius of each other, Everyone may not be able to hear the enitre roundtable, but hopefully most of it. I'm game, deal me in!

I'm picking up 29.6 FM activity from 4-land on my scanner right now, listening on a VHF discone antenna!

Good E-layer condx today including double hop. Today on 29.000 I worked between 18:000 and 19:15 UTC:

KE1FT - Mass.
K1JJ - Conn.
W3FJJ - Md.
KF4DX - N.C.

Nice to have 10 open for July 4th! QSB was moderate with all stations being at least readability four.

Yep, 10M was fun today with variable signal conditions.

Stations worked on 29.000 Mhz AM:

K0EOO   MN

WS4B    FL

KF4DX   NC  - HUGE signal at S9+20.  Loudest so far this cycle.

KN4FE   GA

WB5UGT  TX

AJ4YV     NC

KB1DFC  RI

KH6JS    HI-ram

Aww man... don't tell me it's shut down already?  I'd love to work some AM with the Viker II on 10... it's not the easiest transmitter to get purring up here but darnit, I have her purring!

Basically for now as of 5:09 PM EDT but check back later. You might be surprised. There's also a nightly net on 29.02, I believe, somewhere around the Wisconsin area.

I have another 90 minutes or so.  I play a move in Chess, strum a few chords on the guitar and call a few CQ's

Not necessarily in that order.

John, I think the deal is that 10 is open.....if you have a yagi or three up on a tower.  I tried it with my dipole at 35 feet and was SOL.

Nah, I've made contacts, just not making them today.  If beams and amps are required... I don't consider that "open"... it's either opening or closing!

Seeing how I only have about 45 minutes left before time for work, I've moved to 14.338 in hopes of snagging an AM qso or three... so far just sidebanders up and down from me.

My contacts today were via my SteppIR ground mounted vertical with 48 radials. I don't have any type of beam/tower due to HOA CCRs. I think it is more of being at the right place at the right time with others also being there as well. When I was working 29 Mc, the beacons below were as strong as S-7 in some cases. As we all know when six and ten are open, they are open even with the most modest station.

At 7:20 PM, EDT, stations coast to coast are reporting Sporadic E and Multi-hop E activities on 10 meters. MUF is roughly 69 MHz.

Oh I just tried during the wrong two hours this afternoon.  I had to scoot of to work.  I even CQ'ed AM on 14.338 for a half hour, no joy, then moved down to 7.290 and I could hear Dave W9AD in the noise probably chatting with someone else.  Couldn't quite make out everything he was saying.

No AM this 4th for me Sad

Tuned up to 10 meters after 9 PM EDT this evening, 8/21/11. Band is open; beacons being heard coast to coast, and also lots of west coast activity. Nothing heard on AM; no response to any AM CQ's.

Lots of 10 meter TEP activity into South America and Sporadic E activity into Europe this afternoon. Listened around the AM section and heard no one. Called a few CQ's on AM; got no response. Went down to the lower section and got multiple responses to my CQ's.
