Title: K2PG(SK) Post by: W3SLK on July 15, 2024, 10:24:22 AM I posted this over on QRZ also.
I didn't learn about this until today. I knew Phil for a good many years. He could be overbearing, pompous and very technical. One of his favorite activities was pi$$ing off his neighbors in West Creek, NJ during Christmas time by having a 'Santa Claus' crawling out of a toilet! :D When he first moved to Shickshinny, he would operate one of 2 Collins 20Vs or a Gates BC-1T from his house in Wolf Creek remotely. I helped him move a Collins 21E along with the ATU and Phasors during a thunderstorm at his home in Shickshinny. He eventually got it on the air and would command a big presence on 1885. When I talked to him this past December, he told me that he had suffered some antenna damage with his Unipole and would need it repaired before the 21E could return. In the meantime, he was doing CW on the other bands. He was 70 years old! https://www.gosselinfuneralhome.com/obituary/Philip-Galasso Title: Re: K2PG(SK) Post by: W3GMS on July 15, 2024, 04:06:32 PM I posted this over on QRZ also. Have not talked to Phil in many years but we chatted often some years back. He was a regular at Frank's - KB3AE (SK) post Timoniun parties. Quote Phils website looks to be offline now but is still available via archive.org Yeah, when I originally posted the obituary, I tried to retrieve the data from the 'Internet Wayback Machine', but it said the URL was still active(even though QTH.com said it was suspended). I then posted his website to be investigated for integration and 12 hours later it was on the Wayback Machine. There is a place when you first log on that you can place a website URL so that it can be determined whether it is active or not. |
