Title: Antique radio dial glass
Post by: KA2PTE on June 28, 2021, 02:14:34 PM
Trying to straighten out broken glass on a 1946 era Grundig Tube radio, as per the attached pic.
I dont think any of these glue remedies sold out there would hold up, so thinking of maybe a repro
on Vinyl or something. Theres a site called radiodayz, but they arent responding. Any other ideas to try?

I would think they would need an unmolested original dial in order to make a replication.

Did you try calling them or an e-mail?

Pete

Yes, sent inquires there a while back never got a reply.

Meanwhile, to my astonishment, someone found a good used one on flea-bay, so it was slurped up an hr ago.
Issue solved. Thanks anyhow.

Turns out the glass fit, and was able to bring this classic back up from the grave....at least the radio section.
Customer paid off the rest of the bill, but hasnt came back to pick it up.

He may be waiting for someone to make an offer on it. It still needs work on the turtable section
otherwise its a nice piece of furnature to listen to.

Are there any markets out there that specialize in these old timers as a way to get it to a good home?

I made a photo album for it here, its a Grundig 7028.

You may try to look over on this forum: https://antiqueradios.com/ There's quite a few resources there that can probably help you. Good luck.
