Title: Western America's biggest SSB DX'er...... on AM!?!?
Post by: ve6cq on February 20, 2014, 01:14:55 AM
Today, solar and geomagnetic activity made AM on the upper bands nearly impossible, with one exception - a call, out of the blue.... from the legendary Seymour, W6CCP.
Listen to Seymour on AM with his stock FT 1000d, communications headset and his big 15 meter monobander.

See attached audio.

Interesting. Somehow I just can't get used to VOX on AM!

I hear Seymour on 20 on SSB all the time with his VOX operation. A couple of days ago he called me on AM and I told him it's pretty unusual to use VOX on AM. He told me that he never uses VOX (on any mode) but he does have a very active foot switch.

I guess it's OK, Sounds OK and very clear. Do I hear 120Hz modulation in the voice, or is that natural?
