Title: ARC5 transmitter tuned up on 1880.kcs AM mode
Post by: VE3LYX on January 02, 2014, 12:53:29 PM
I have my ARC5 T18 tuned up on 1880 and have the modulator and mic working. I read the mail last night but band was noisy and most were in Indiana or further west. Probably a bit of a haul for the ARC5 in rough conditions. Looking for something nearer. Anyone wants to help this ol boy get his first 160M contact give me a time you would be available and I will be there.  I have about 60 watts out it would appear. Hopefully that will get me somewhere.

I like your "no modification" coax hook-up!  ;D

Thanks but there is no coax. I just plug my long wire into the centre contact of the coax connector and tune it as it would have been in the airplane adding from the roller inductor to make up for a physically short trailing wire antenna. I use a unamplified FS meter to tune for peaks. I do however connect coax there when working into my dummy load when testing the passive loop modulator etc.
