Had an almost hour long chat with Steve VK4VN 10:40 UTC.

We had to move from 29000 due to him hearing too many stations : )

Went up to .030 to continue.

My tower was nested due to weather. Antenna at 30 or so feet.

Edited because I screw this up often: 22:40 UTC not 10:40. Sri.

Many 20+ over S9 from Europe. I'd say 10 is hot today.

Multiple Yerp stations, Russia, Western US and Can-A-dah.

On 29090 with VE6CQ right now. Easy listening.

Again today. 6-8 QSOs between 29.0 and 29.1. Lots of UK stations and VE6CQ coming in from the opposite direction.

Nice chats with GI0BQX and M5AFD (could hear him running 5W).

Dozens of Euro AM signals to choose from today. Wet noodle users coming in OK too. Today was better than all last season.

Indeed. This year is looking a bit more like 2011, but not as good yet.

Talking to VE6CQ right now. Good conditions.

Good times. Even a bunch of FM up higher in the band. No need to junk my Gonset and go back to CB!  ;D

I heard someone asking you about your loop. No yagi yet? Who is the project manager?

Yagi was up last year. A tree banch took out an element. Gotta get some aluminum.

It's showtime Bubba. Today is the first day of the rest of yer life. Need some tubing? What size?

I think I can get it at a local hardware. I don't need much. I'm going to try to sleeve the existing element. It snapped off right at the boom. If I weren't such a slug, I would have done this over the summer. I really want o rebuild the Yagi and convert it to a three elements. It's four now but on a short boom. An optimized 3-element design would probably work better.

Steve..I'll make a mention here since it pertains to 10mtrs in general rather than disrupt the Nearfest postings..yah that was me actually Sunday too Steve..after all the postings folks hopefully will become believers of 10mtr activity..it was weird today though with not much hoid at all..best-o-luk on redesigning ur yagi..when we had a 4-el yagi on 10 we reluctantly went to 5-el and DID NOT increase the boom length..we DID increase forward gain but much less back rejection..b/4 the verdict was in Ma Nature decided it all for us in a classic Nor Easter..I woke up to a neat lookin' forward director stickin' outta the snow bank..it managed to continue performing but only with Mr Tuner on board..in the spring we went for the TA-33 by Mosely and never went there agn..by the way up here Home Depot and Lowes keep a very limited supply of smaller element size tubing but never longer than 6'
PEOPLE CHECK 10MTRS..IT IS HAPPENING!!!        c ya Steve 73 de DAVE

My vote is extend the boom and use all available elements.

Would be fun to be able to talk via backscatter.

Yes it would. I can hear you quite well often. Last night your were 100% copy. I called but my PW loop wasn't up to the task.

There have been some smoking tropo openings also. It can help with extended groundwave at 29 mhz.

Spoke with a guy around 10:00 AM local time who was 100 miles away. He was using a barefoot FT-101 and a beam.
