Title: .ram file Post by: The Slab Bacon on September 22, 2011, 09:41:05 AM Hey, guys,
Why wont this software support a .ram audio file. I went to attach one last night and it kept coming with an error message? ? It's just a text file that tells Real Player where to find your file. If your audio file resides on the internet, just post a link to it. If the file is an mp3 etc, then you should upload the file directly to your post, because posting a .ram file that indexes a file on your c: drive means that nobody else will be able to get it. I have had that and other .ram audio bites for years. I wonder if I could just rename them to Mp3s ? ? I will have to do a right click on them and check out the properties. My confuser at home plays them with no problem and I don't have real player installed in it. (At least I dont think I do) ??? I guess I'll have to dig deeper and play detective.............. Title: Re: .ram file Post by: w3jn on September 22, 2011, 02:33:24 PM Where is the actual audio file located? You should be able to open the .ram file with Word or Notepad, it's just a text file. The file should just have the location of the file like http://junkwebsite.com/file.mp3

I opened the .ram files here at home just to see what software opened them. they opened just fine with my Media Player Classic. For the hell of it I renamed them changing the file extension to .mp3 and they still opened just fine using the same media player classic. Hmmmm......... I think they will now post just fine!! Apparently Real Audio must just rename files so only their crap will find/open them. Also, I went back and opened it with notepad, got pages of asci text, so that confirms the location IS on my hard drive.
Now................. Do you have any objections to me posting the famous (or infamous) "Shut up Irb" clip? ? ;D ;D Title: Re: .ram file Post by: W2PFY on September 23, 2011, 11:26:05 AM Quote Now.................
