Post by: WD8BIL on February 16, 2011, 07:59:44 AM
The conditions supported a qso with; WA1HLR (ME), W1GUD (FL), KD0HG (CO), W7YOO (MN), KC8ZUL (OH) and myself in northern OH. All >S9+10 !!!

Time to turn the 'puters off and operate. Summer's a comin'!

Wondered what happened to ya HG.
Was it antenna related or just a "give up the ghost" event?

Looks like a power supply crapout. With the RF and modulator decks disconnected, even switched to 1/2 tuneup voltage, it's blowing the 30 amp breakers on the 240 volt side.

Time to dig out the Jesus stick and troubleshoot it after work today.

OK, just fixed the beast.

An insulator arced over in the modulator deck and turned into a stinkin' 15 ohm resistor from 2500V B+ to gnd.

Will be on 75 this evening to see if it is OK. I think the 8008 merc vapes survived the overload. And the mod iron seems to have survived. Phew.
