Bless the high speed digital revolution. Probably also coming soon to your local 75 meter frequency.

High speed digital has been around since the 1920s, you just have to look down around 3500 Kc.

I will be operating W0L (that's a zero)  from the 15th through the 21st as a special events station for the bandwarming and look forward to working as many of the NE gang as possible.

I will be on for the next couple of weeks as W9T, celebrating the new phone band expansion as well as 100 yrs of AM radio.  I inaugurated the call sign this morning on 3885 with Nick, KG2IR, Tim Tron, WA1HLR and Joe, N1VIV.  In spite of a little noise from the "swisher" station and various other extraneous and obviously intentional disruptions, we conducted a nice short AM QSO.  I will really be looking forward to the real festivities starting tomorrow and I will be looking for all those special events calls.

I didn't apply for a special callsign, but plan to start the ball rolling at midnight tonight somewhere around 3610.

This is assuming the fee-cee doesn't act on the ARRL's petition for a last-minute stay of execution.

If that happens (they are running short on time for making the announcement), I plan to start at the low end of wherever the new band begins, and work upwards.

As soon as there are 3 or more stations in a QSO, I plan to hop to another frequency and start/join another AM QSO there.

Band condx ought to be pretty good.  I see some T-storm activity gathering on the lightning map, but no major wx fronts are predicted for the next couple of days, and the local forecast is for mild but clear weather.  Propagation may be anemic, if the past few days are any indication, but signals that carry a reasonable amount of authority should get through ok.

I have to get up at 1120 GMT (5:20 AM) tomorrow morning, but hope to get in a good hour of activity on the new frequencies this evening before retiring for the night.

"What about 40 meters?"

I'll be working 40M from Ft. Collins. Starting from the bottom and working my way up. I think 40 will be an interesting experience. . . .
